Warm Climate Application

  1. rFOIL NT Radiant Barrier can also be installed above attic rafters, directly beneath the roof decking.
  2. rFOIL should run perpendicular to the rafters. Taping the seams is not required.
  3. Install the first row of radiant barrier along the eave, leaving a 3” gap at the bottom of the eave. Staple the material directly to the rafters at regular intervals (3-6”).
  4. When the first row of radiant barrier is secured, begin installing the bottom row of roof decking as usual. When the decking is in place, about 3” rFOIL should extend beneath the upper edge of the decking, as the insulation and decking are both 48” wide.
  5. When the first row of radiant barrier is secured, begin installing the bottom row of roof decking as usual. When the decking is in place, about 3” rFOIL should extend beneath the upper edge of the decking, as the insulation and decking are both 48” wide.
  6. Install the second row of radiant barrier directly next to the previous row extending beyond the decking. Try not to overlap the seam, in order to maintain the 3” leading edge of rFOIL beyond the roof decking.
  7. Continue this process upward to the ridge, alternately installing rFOIL and the roof decking in sequence.
  8. rFOIL should be installed beneath every square foot of roof decking.
  9. At the gables, rFOIL Radiant Barrier can be installed directly to the outside of the studs.
